Faculty Leader: Mrs S Wade
In the busy run up to the Christmas holidays there have been several exciting opportunities for performers through the music department.
There were three engaging competitions: Battle of the Bells for year 5, Folk Festival for year 6 and the Battle of the Beatle Bands in year 7, the winners of which will be performing in assemblies.
In addition to this the choir and orchestra, as well as practising hard to prepare for the Christmas Carol Service, are participating in several events to promote our school in the wider community. This will include carol singing in the local shopping centre and Morrisons supermarket and performing at the Whitley Bay High School Christmas Fayre.
Parents also had the opportunity to participate, by attending the One Off Orchestra event early in December.
We are excited to announce the resumption of the highly successful Rock School which will re-commence on Tuesday 16th September and and then each Tuesday, after school until 4.45pm. There will also be an extra rehersal session at the same time each Friday in the run-up to events.
Rock School is currently available to instrumentalists in year 6, 7 and 8.
Any players who are interested in participating should contact Mr Morton before attending Rock School.
If anyone in our school community has any old kit such as amps or instruments then the music department would be grateful for any donations to help keep this activity going for the pupils.Thank You!
Our choir will begin again on Wednesday September 17th at 5.30pm in the school hall. Everyone from our school or the wider community is welcome at attend and participate.
We hope to see you there.
