Anatomy lesson: Dissection - February 2015

Year 8 had the opportunity to delve into the world of anatomy by handling the heart, lungs, liver and trachea of a sheep. Rounding off their topic on digestion and respiration, those brave enough to venture forward were rewarded with a sloppy, squelchy and surprising experience, feeling the weight of pure muscle in the heart, the springy light feel of the gas filled lungs and the rigid rings of cartilage that keep the windpipes open.

Any potential medics (or butchers) had a great experience of feeling the difference between the organs, and through the use of a foot pump we were able to see the full capacity of the lungs!
