Your child will come to Marden Bridge for a 2 day transition period. During this time, they will meet their form teacher for next year and will experience some lessons. If your child has additional needs, they may be invited for extra transition activities. Please take a look at the videos from Mr Newport and Mr Griffiths and the virtual tour of the school.
Marden Bridge has strong links with the feeder schools. We are in close contact with all of our Year 4 colleagues at the feeder schools in order to discuss the children and to find out more about them. The Year 4 staff put the children into small groups based on their knowledge of the individuals. These are then used to place the children into their new Year 5 class at MBMS. Each class is then assigned a form teacher.
Marden Bridge prides itself as a caring school. The staff at Marden are friendly, approachable, caring and always ready to help our new pupils in year 5 to settle in. New Year 5 classes are assigned Year 8 buddies who take the children around to their different classes and familiarise them with their new surroundings and routines. Our new year 5s also have a protected break and lunchtime area, keeping them seperate from the older pupils until they are comfortable in their new school.
You will be issued with a Class Dojo account (a safe teacher-parent communication app) in order to be able to directly communicate with your child's form teacher. You will be able to ask questions and arrange any meetings with them via this tool. Phone calls can also be made to our office and your child's teacher will get back to you as soon as possible.
Your child's form teacher will be their main point of contact. At breaks and lunch times, we have supervisors who are also available. If there is an issue with a specific lesson, their subject teacher would be the best person to speak to. However, MBMS is a very caring school and staff members are approachable and will try to help.
We take allegations of bullying very seriously and deal with them in an appropriate and timely manner. Children are encouraged to speak to their form teacher so that issues can be dealt with as quickly as possible. MBMS Bullying policy
Please ensure that all of your child's uniform and equipment is clearly labelled with their name and form class. If your child has lost something, they can come and let our school office know and can check lost property. They will also be encouraged to look in the different areas of the school they have been. If the child still can't find their lost item, a message will be sent out to staff to ask the children in their class to keep an eye out.
Please see the Uniform Guide
Jewellery and make-up should not be worn in school. Again, please see our Uniform Guide
