Mr Griffiths
Head of Year 5

Hi, I'm Mr Griffiths - Head of Year 5
I took over from Mrs Voisey as Head of Year 5 in September 2024 so 2025 will be my second year in the role.
I am excited for the new school year and meeting and working with you and your child throughout their time at Marden Bridge Middle School. I’m really excited for our Year 5 adventure to start and I thought you might like to know a bit about me!
I am a proud Northumbrian and grew up in Newbiggin-By-The-Sea and had many goals as a youngster, becoming an Astronaut (although I’m afraid of heights), a footballer (I had some skill but didn’t like to train in the rain) and finally a musician. I play the tuba in a local brass band, I had planned to join the Royal Marines as a musician, but circumstances changed and teaching became my career of choice.
I have worked as a teacher for 11 years and I have taught at Marden Bridge for the last six. Marden Bridge is a fantastic environment to work in as all the staff are friendly, witty and supportive and the children are friendly and kind. I know your child will enjoy their time here.
Let’s make the year ahead marvellous, Year 5!
A Few of my favourites!
- Color: Red
- Season: Summer; the sun is shining (most of the time!)

- Sport: I enjoy fly fishing, it is the most relaxing AND stressful sport!

Mrs Carr
Class 5DC

Hi, I'm Mrs Carr
Hello Year 4s (soon to be Year 5s),
I am Mrs Carr and I am really excited to welcome you all in September. I have heard such lovely things about this year group and I am really looking forward to meeting you in person. In the meantime, I thought you might like to know a little bit about me…
I moved up to the North East, from Liverpool, when I was 8 and grew up in Whitley Bay. I came to Marden Bridge Middle School as a student myself and liked it so much that I came back here to work as an English teacher - which I love!
When I am not at school, I like to go to the beach; cook (and eat) really nice food; read lots of books (I love reading) and spend time with my family. Together, we like to watch movies, ice hockey and basketball. We enjoy camping, barbecues and generally being outdoors. We do attempt to play games together but it can get a bit competitive when we do this - because we all like to win!
I hope that you have lots of exciting things planned for the summer holidays and are looking forward to joining us in September. If you do feel a bit nervous, just remember that it is normal to have some nerves and that I am here to help and support you. Together, as 5DC we will work together, as a team, to ensure that we have a really enjoyable and successful year.
See you soon!
A Few of my favourites!

Mr Crozier
Class 5TC

Hi, I'm Mr Crozier
Hi all! I am very much looking forward to meeting you in September and can’t wait to get started on our journey together through middle school. Before we meet in person, I thought you may like to learn a little bit about me.
Originally, I am from Hampshire but have roots in the North East with both of my parents growing up here. I moved up for University in 2015 and I have never looked back. Although I consider myself a dog person, I currently have an 12 year old rescue cat called Casper. Outside of school you will likely find me either playing futsal or at St.James’ Park watching football.
This will be my fourth year at Marden Bridge Middle School so believe me, I know how it feels to be new! That also means that I know how much excitement lies ahead for you and I am thrilled that I can be part of that experience. I hope you enjoy your remaining weeks at first school and I will see you very soon!
A Few of my favourites!
- Color: Blue
- Season: Winter
- Food: Chinese takeaway (even though it's not very good for me!)
- Drink: Orange and Mango Squash!
- Music: Very varied tastes
- Book: Harry Potter (Probably Goblet of Fire, if you're going to make me pick one)
- Sport: Futsal and football
- Topic: Statistics

Miss Northcott
Class 5CN

Hi, I'm Miss Northcott
Hello future year fives!
I am thrilled to be welcoming you to our class next September! I feel so lucky to be a part of your journey at Marden Bridge and can't wait to get to know you and see you grow and thrive. In the meantime, here's a bit about me...
I grew up in London and have been an Arsenal supporter for as long as I can remember (yes, I know we bottled the league, but we're still the best!). I love Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Marvel and Star Wars and my favorite animals are sharks — yep, you read that right! Sharks are really cool but a little scary and often misunderstood, just like me when I try to dance.
This will be my fourth year teaching, and I absolutely love it. I enjoy teaching all subjects, but my favorites are Science and History. I promise our science experiments won't blow up in our faces—unlike my attempts at cooking!
Enjoy your last few weeks of year four, and get ready for an amazing year five in the best class there is!
See you soon!
A Few of my favourites!
- Color: Green
- Season: Summer
- Food: Pizza
- Drink: Dr Pepper
- Song: This Will Be Our Year By The Zombies
- Book: The Girl Who Saved The King of Sweden by Jonas Jonasson
- Sport: Kayaking or rock climbing

Miss Williams
Class 5GW

Hi, I'm Miss Williams
Hello, my name is Miss Williams and I am looking forward to getting to know and working with you and your child from September! I feel so lucky to be a part of the beginning of your journey in our Marden Bridge family and can’t wait to meet you all very soon, but for now, here is something to help you to get to know me…
I have grown up in Whitley Bay and Tynemouth and never really left - I went to university in Liverpool but soon realised I wanted to be back home by the beach! I have wanted to be a teacher from being a very little girl (once I realised being a popstar was never really going to happen!) and so the last 5 years at Marden Bridge have been a dream for me!
I grew up with my two little brothers and our dog Teddy - he’s an old man now but I’m planning on getting a puppy in the summer holidays who I will tell you all about! As well as dogs, elephants are my other favourite animal and our class mascot will be Nelly!
I teach lots of different subjects but my own favourites from my childhood were English and P.E. I love reading and can’t wait to read stories with you! I spent a lot of my time growing up at dance/stage school and you’ll still find me having a sing and dance with you all when I can!
Enjoy your last few weeks of first school and I will see you all very soon! :) .

- Food: Pasta and chocolate
