Dear pupil in year 4,

I am a pupil in Year 5 at Marden Bridge and I am writing to you because you are starting at the school in September and must wonder what it is like.

When I was in year 4 and about to start at Marden, I felt nervous as there were only five other people going to Marden with me. My best friends were going to another school and I felt really sad about that. I was also scared about walking to school by myself and what the work would be like. I was sad to be wearing a new uniform and going to a much bigger school.

The first day at Marden was great and my worries quickly disappeared. There were two people from my school in my form and the rest of the children in the class were really nice. I quickly made lots of new friends and got to know all of the teachers. Our form teacher is a lot of fun and really approachable if I ever had a problem. We were also given an older “buddy” to talk to if we needed to. My worries didn’t last long, I am still in touch with my old school friends and have loads of new friends.

I hope my letter helps you feel positive about staring at Marden. Everyone feels nervous about new things but you will have a great time and make lots of new friends.
